Security

Your clips are
yours alone.

SnipSync uses end-to-end encryption powered by the same cryptography as Signal and Keybase. Your clips are encrypted on your device before they ever leave it. Not even we can read them.

  • Zero-knowledge We store encrypted blobs. We cannot decrypt your data, even if compelled to.
  • Vault password A separate password you set — never sent to our servers. Derives the encryption key locally.
  • XSalsa20-Poly1305 Military-grade symmetric encryption via NaCl. Per-clip random nonce — no two clips encrypt the same way.
  • 12-word recovery phrase Forgot your vault password? A recovery phrase lets you regain access to your encrypted clips.
